  • Honoring the Legacy of Celess M. Broadnax

Since our founding, Celess Helping Hands, NFP has remained committed to empowering youth, strengthening families, and creating lasting change in the community. Here’s a look at our milestones:


2009

Celess Helping Hands was founded in honor of Celess Broadnax—a true servant and warrior for the people—with a mission to uplift youth and families through education, empowerment, and compassionate support.

2010

Launched the Youth Enrichment Program, providing mentorship, life skills training, and personalized services for youth ages 13 to 25 six times a year.

2012

Expanded services with the Parent Empowerment Program, offering workshops and coaching to support parents facing the challenges of modern family life 6 to eight times a year.

2014

Introduced community engagement initiatives to connect participants with local resources, services, and opportunities for growth.

2016

Developed specialized training sessions on topics such as trauma, abuse, neglect, and strategies for overcoming barriers.

2018

Enhanced our youth programs with college and career preparation, emotional wellness support, and social development tools.

2020

Like many grassroots organizations, we experienced a full shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. We remained committed to our mission and prepared for a stronger return.

2022

Resumed operations on a full-time basis with renewed energy and focus—expanding services, strengthening partnerships, and deepening our impact in the community.
Also celebrated over a decade of service to youth and families across Southern Illinois and St. Louis.

Continuing to grow and adapt to the evolving needs of our community while honoring the legacy of Celess Broadnax—building a future where youth and families can thrive.
